I Believe
The Apostle’s Creed has been used in churches for years. People have learned it by heart and are able to proclaim it. It is a way we teach our children about the Christian Faith and what we believe.
The Apostle’s Creed, according to legend, was composed by the Apostles on the tenth day after the Ascension of Jesus, under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. This legend adds to the importance of this creed, but is just a legend. The Apostle’s creed does have a legitimate claim to its title on the basis that all of its articles are to be found in the theological formulas that were around by the year AD 100. The creed’s origin is not clear, but it can be traced to a creed that developed in Rome around the end of the second century. It is firmly in place by AD 215. The creed’s origin is from the questions that are asked when a person is baptized.
